A tablet computer or tablet PC is a mobile, flat Computer. Tablets are normally built in a very light way and have a touch screen display and – unlike a laptop – no keyboard. What kinds of tablet PCs are there?
Unlike tablet PCs with x86-compatible processors tablets with ARM sell well, especially since the arrival of the Apple iPad (April 2010) and Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab (October 2010). Up to November 2010 7,5 Mio. iPads were sold and 600.000 Galaxy Tabs. In the same year about 18 Mio. tablets were sold worldwide, thereof 83% Apple devices. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab reached a marked share of 17 % in the last quarter of 2010. Market leader is Apple with the iPad. In 2011 about 40,5 Mio. copies were sold worldwide.
